Submit It Help
A. Any default sites with the same url as the site you entered will not be displayed to help prevent multiple submissions to the same software website.
Q. I am trying to submit my software to a site but noting is loading in the Submit It browser.
A. Within a few days of releasing Submit It, a number of sites have gone offline or changed their submission page resulting in the problem you have encountered.
We are working on an update to the sites list and have added a way for you to update the built in site listings.
Q. I am trying to upload a file to a submission site but nothing happens.
A. The latest release of Submit It has fixed this problem, if you are running version 1.10 or above and are still having this trouble please contact support with the site you are trying to upload to.
Q. How do i save my edited PAD file in Submit It?
A. There's no need to manually save changes as you edit your PAD file, Submit It automatically saves the changes as you type.
In the table at the top of the Overview window you can see all the software titles you have added to Submit It, the version of the software the PAD file currently relates to, the release date of the current software version, which operating systems are supported, whether or not the PAD file is valid against the current PAD specifications and where the software has been submitted to.
Below the table are three buttons, ‘Export’, ‘Delete Listing’ and ‘Create A New Software Listing’.
Add
To create a new software title simply click on the ‘Create A New Software Listing’ button, you will then be prompted for a name for your new software title, if the name you enter does not already exist and contains no invalid characters it will be added to the software title table at the top of the page, you can then select it and edit, submit or export the PAD file for the software.
Delete
To delete a software title simply select the software you wish to delete from the table, click on the ‘Delete Listing’ button and confirm the deletion of the software title, once an item has been deleted it is NOT recoverable.
Export
To export a PAD file, just select the software title from the table at the top of the window and click the ‘Export (software name)’ button, if there are errors in the PAD file you will be warned about these before continuing with the export. You will then be prompted to enter a name for the exported XML PAD file and the location to save it.
Below the buttons you can see more details about the selected software. In the ‘Sites Submitted To’ section you can see a list of which sites you have submitted the software to, the version submitted to that site and whether or not the submitted version is the latest version. A green tick shows the submitted version is the latest edition of the PAD file, an orange tick indicates that a newer version of the PAD file is available but has not been submitted to the site.
The ‘Validation Errors’ section shows a list of any problems found with the PAD file.
Once you have selected a software title from the list in the Overview window you can edit the PAD information for this software listing by clicking on ‘Edit PAD’ in the toolbar.
Required fields are shown in red and a brief description of what is allowed is shown just below it.
As you type, the field will be validated and the character count will be shown where needed below.
If the message below the entry field or part of the entry turns red there is a problem with the entry.
Submitting your software to shareware/software sites is made easy through the built in submission page, on the left of the page are the quick fill buttons and in the drawer on the right are the websites you can submit your software to, you can add more sites to the site list through the preferences panel.
Quick Fill Buttons
The buttons to the left of the screen are the quick fill buttons, if you have filled the relevant information in your PAD file then the button relating to it will become active. You can then simply select a field in the website you are submitting to and click the relevant button to place the information into the field. Much quicker than typing out the PAD URL every time.
The Sites List
In the panel on the right of the submission window are all the sites Submit It can currently submit your software to.
To submit your software just click on a site in the list, this will then load the sites submission page into the browser in the centre of the screen, follow the instructions on the website to submit your software then click the 'Mark As Submitted' button at the top right of the submission page to let Submit It know your site has been submitted, a green tick will appear next to the site and you can easily keep track of whether you have submitted the latest version of your software as if you have updated the version in the PAD file and not re-submitted it to the site, an orange tick will be shown next to the site name.
Open In Browser
By selecting a site and clicking the 'Open In Browser' button the selected site will be opened in your default browser, in a future release of Submit It we hope to make it possible to use the Quick Fill function with your default browser.
The Preferences window Site List section allows you to add sites to the list of submission sites available, once added you can edit or delete sites at will.
The Backup/Restore window allows you to do just what it says, backup or restore your sites list, a quick backup function will be available in a future release of Submit It to easily backup and restore your software listings.
